Where plant protein actually lives
Plant protein is not spread evenly across plant foods. It clusters in four groups - soy foods, legumes, seeds and nuts, and a handful of higher-protein grains - and almost everything else is a rounding error by comparison.
Soy is the standout. A cup of cooked soybeans carries about 31.3 g of protein, more than a 3 oz portion of most meats. Firm tofu brings 21.8 g per half cup, edamame 18.4 g per cooked cup, tempeh 17.1 g per 3 oz, and natto 17.1 g per half cup. Soy foods are also complete proteins, which removes the amino acid question entirely.
Legumes are the volume workhorses. Lupini beans lead at 25.9 g per cooked cup, then 17.9 g for lentils, 16.3 g for split peas, 15.2 g for black beans, 15 g for navy beans, 14.5 g for chickpeas. A worked vegan day
Numbers in isolation are hard to judge, so here is a plain day assembled from the foods above. Nothing in it is exotic, and no portion is unusually large.

The gaps that actually cause shortfalls
In practice, plant-based diets rarely fail at dinner. Dinner tends to be the meal that already has a considered centrepiece. The shortfalls show up in three predictable places.
The first is breakfast. Toast, cereal, fruit, and coffee is a 6-10 g start to the day, and no realistic dinner makes up a 25 g deficit. Adding soy milk instead of another plant milk, or stirring in seeds or nut butter, is the highest-leverage single change most people can make.
